Construction Update

Location:

The first phase of the project is located near the ball fields on Turtle Lane just off Harbor Road. This entails laying the force main which will follow the Ti Haul Trail to Bay Road, cross the LaPlatte River just north of the Bay Road Bridge and then follow Bay Road north to Turtle Lane and the Crown Road wastewater treatment facility.

Work Hours:

Construction activities will be restricted to the daytime hours of 7AM and 5PM, Monday through Friday.  No weekend work, or work outside the standard hours is currently planned.  If this is necessary, ECI will need to request this in advance and get approval from the Town.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

August 24-28 The travelling public can expect to encounter delays on Bay Road with alternating one way traffic during work hours and open to two-way traffic, outside of work hours. This is necessary so that crews can  continue work on the sewer forcemain bypass which is expected to be completed this week. Affected individuals have been notified of this disturbance. Additionally, homeowners will be notified regarding day-to-day access, a day or two ahead of when their driveway will be crossed. Affected individuals/homeowners should also advise the contractor on site of upcoming appointments, meetings etc., and best efforts will be made to accommodate reasonable requests related to access.

The drill crew will continue reaming under the LaPlatte River and will be switching to the Air Hammer Drill at the beginning of the week which will be louder, but the process is still located at Bay Park Boat Launch; the remainder of the construction near residences will remain at a normal volume.

Note: Bypass pipes observed in front of homes are located within the Town's right-of-way (ROW) and not on homeowners' properties.  These pipes are not be moved or tampered with.

August 31- Sept 4: A civil crew will begin open cut work on Bay Road and a drill crew will continue reaming under the LaPlatte River with the Air Hammer.

Once the road closure is active, access to the boat launch or Shelburne Farms will only be available from Harbor Road. There will be no access to these locations from Bay Road while the road closure is active. This will likely impact school bus routes in August 2026.
