Project Background

​The Town of Shelburne, Vermont, operates two wastewater treatment plants, one at Turtle Lane and the other at Crown Road, both providing essential wastewater treatment services for residents, businesses, and major employers in Chittenden County. The facilities protect public health and regional water resources by treating wastewater before it is discharged to receiving waters within the Lake Champlain watershed. The facilities are aging and require upgrades to continue providing reliable wastewater treatment services. Following the completion of several studies on renovation or consolidation options, in Spring 2023, the Selectboard approved the most cost-effective, efficient and environmentally friendly option of consolidating the treatment facilities at Crown Road.
